The first grape-flavored Márka soft drink is born, created with a Hungarian recipe. The product was developed by Dr. Miklós Kállay and Péter Sárkány, and bottled by the Southern Great Plain Winery. Soon, different flavors began to be produced all across the country
Since 2007, Márka has been distributed exclusively as a 100% Hungarian family-owned business. This was the beginning of the brand’s conscious rebuilding, guided by a long-term, step-by-step strategy.
As part of a greenfield investment, Márka’s own production base is being built on a 3+3 hectare industrial site. The Felsőlajos plant is defined by three natural mineral water wells, modern Western European production lines, and gradually expanding capacit
Márka already meets the EU requirements set for 2025: our bottles are made with 30% recycled rPET. At the production site, we operate our own biological wastewater treatment plant, and by following the principles of the circular economy, we minimize environmental impact.
In addition to the classic carbonated flavors, the portfolio now includes iced teas, fruit juices, and low-calorie drinks. Our developments focus on health awareness, variety, and an enjoyable consumer experience.
Being Márka means more than producing soft drinks — with every bottle we continue to tell a Hungarian story. Since 1973, we’ve been a faithful companion at family lunches, summer picnics, and nostalgic moments. From our beginnings at the Southern Great Plain Winery, we have grown into a nationwide favorite — and we still work with the same passion as with our very first bottle. We believe that Hungarian values are timeless. That’s why we preserve tradition not only in our flavors, but also in the way we operate. As a family business, Márka remains people-focused — with real faces, real goals, and real communities behind every decision.
Sustainable packaging, energy-efficient production, rPET bottles, and green investments — for us, these are not campaign slogans but core values. At Márka Üdítő, our everyday operations are in harmony with the environment, because we can only bottle the taste of the future if we take care of it.
The first Márka soft drink was created in 1973 from local fruits, based on the recipe of Hungarian inventors. The classic grape flavor began its journey at the Southern Great Plain Winery and soon became known nationwide. Since 2007, as a family business, we’ve been building the world of Márka with fresh momentum — staying true to our heritage while bringing new ideas to life!
